How We Got Here

Founded in 2001 when Noel Fryer began writing the Fryers Reports as an independent cash market report, the publication steadily evolved over the next two decades into a trusted, unbiased source for commercial traders worldwide. In 2022, Dr. Rory Deverell took over authorship of the Fryers Report and founded Black Silo Commodity Consulting, marking a new chapter of growth and professional expansion. This momentum continued with the Black Silo team expanding into Romania in 2024, followed by the official opening of the Romanian Black Silo office on June 10, 2025. Building on its commitment to market insight and education, Black Silo launched the Fryers Trading Academy educational program on February 5, 2026.Why The Name Black Silo? The name Black Silo comes from the fact that Rory's office is actually built from a repurposed grain silo. Right now the Silo is green, but each year Rory promises he will paint it black with his daughters.
